According to the United Nations, there are 193 countries on earth. However, there is no rule to say what exactly makes a state. A president, a flag, a government? The reality is a lot more unruly.
De Facto explores the realm of unrecognized states, micronations and curious border zones. We launch new series of events at De Roode Bioscoop with talks, art and music. On June 28, we will interview documentary maker Reber Dosky about the unrecognized state of Kurdistan. He will take us to this beautiful but volatile region and show some of his impressive work. Designer Inna Kochkina will tell us how Cyrillic script is used as a tool to dominate territory of Russia and the former USSR. Floor Koomen will delve into the story of the Black Hills together with musician Dusty Stray, who will play some music from this region. Last but not least: a quiz by Michiel Eijsbouts.
Still have a free ticket as ambassador? Please make your reservation through info@defactoborders.org. Tickets are valid till the end of 2023.
